„The commitment of all levels of government – local, sub-national and national – is essential to effectively combat climate change. This is particularly important in the context of Nigeria`s National Determination Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement. Under the NDC, Nigeria is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20% compared to Business As Usual (BAU) forecasts by 2030 and to making a conditional contribution of 45% on the basis of a commitment with international support. To take action, simply fill in your name and email address in the form below and the message is sent. But if we work together, we can do great things. There is much to learn from each other, because there are great challenges ahead. An important feature of this event is the obtaining of views to be submitted for review upon completion of the Third National Communication (TNC) document and the guarantee of cross-sectional participation and national ownership of the document. According to reports, the activity has the potential to advance the country in the implementation of the Paris Agreement, but additional steps must be taken to ensure that the potential is fully exploited. Nigeria`s Ministry of the Environment received key environmental stakeholders when they met to discuss Nigeria`s third national communication (TNC) project on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

„The Uyo workshop aims to subject the TNC project to a thorough stakeholder review to reflect the national situation and ensure a transparent, comprehensive, accurate and accountable document,“ said Dr. Tarfa. Stakeholders included staff from the Federal Ministry of the Environment, climate protection officials from the 36 ministries of the environment and the Federal Capital Area (FCT), civil society organizations (CSOs) and the media.
